El clásico manual de MTTs 1. Harrington on Hold â€em, Volume I: Strategic Play, de Dan Harrington y Bill Robertie, ha sido elegido como el libro que más influencia ha tenido en la historia del poker.
La elección ha salido de una encuesta que 888poker ha promovido recientemente.
La sala de los ochos propuso la posibilidad de formar parte del Nomination Panel a 133 jugadores profesionales. De ellos, 36 no respondieron a la petición y otros 41 sí lo hicieron, pero manifestando que no querían participar.
Así, el jurado quedó formado por 56 pros, de 12 distintos países. Entre ellos, estaban grandes nombres del poker mundial, como Erik Seidel, Dan Cates, Daniel Dvoress, Philipp Gruissem, Dominik Nitsche, Jason Koon, Jonathan Little, Mike McDonald, Brian Rast o el flamante Team PokerStars Pro Igor Kurganov. En cambio, no había ningún español.
888poker preparó una lista que contenía 129 títulos de libros de poker y se la envió a los jueces. Estos habían de elegir hasta un máximo de 10 títulos, dándoles una puntuación de 0 a 10, siendo esta última cifra la asignada al libro que más les había influido. Y así mismo, se les indicó que no podían votar por obras de las que fuesen autores, ni por libros que no hubiesen leído.
888poker fue recopilando los votos y finalmente ha dado a conocer los resultados.
Un total de 86 títulos recibieron al menos un voto.
El pódium lo han ocupado el citado manual de torneos multimesa de Dan Harrington, el clásico Super System de Doyle Brunson y el Every Hand Revealed de Gus Hansen.
Los miembros del jurado han dedicado muchos halagos, llenos de nostalgia, al libro de Harrington.

Jackie Glazier: «El libro me dio la confianza que necesitaba para tomar muchas decisiones en la mesa en mis primeros años«.

El manual de Dan Harrington, con sus 3 volúmenes, fue clave para la evolución de muchos de los jugadores que llegamos al mundo del poker la década pasada. Por eso, en mi opinión, este es un justo reconocimiento a la influencia que ha tenido en la historia del poker.
